How a Google review QR code works

A Google review QR code encodes your business's review link, the special URL that opens the "Rate us" star form for your listing. A customer points a phone camera at the code, taps the banner, and lands directly on the review screen for your business, with no searching and no typing. Reticle renders the code live as you paste the link, so you can style it and download it in seconds.

Because it's a plain URL QR code, the link is stored in the image itself. There's no shortener in the middle, nothing is uploaded, and the code works for as long as your listing exists.

Getting your Google review link

The quickest way: open your Google Business Profile (from Google Search or Maps while signed in as the owner), choose Ask for reviews, and copy the short link it gives you. It usually looks like https://g.page/r/…/review and drops customers straight onto the star form.

No Business Profile handy? Use a Place ID finder to look up your listing's Place ID, then build the link https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=YOUR_PLACE_ID. Paste whichever link you have into the URL field above and the code updates instantly.

Static or dynamic?

By default the code is static: your review link is baked into the image, so nothing is tracked and the code never expires. If you'd rather keep it editable after printing, or see how many people scanned your counter card, sign in and switch the URL tab to Dynamic. That encodes a short open-qr.link address you can repoint at any time, with scan counts under My links, a simple way to gauge how many customers you actually asked. The free plan includes 5 dynamic links.

Where to put your review QR code

Put it where a satisfied customer is already looking: printed on the receipt, on a table tent or counter card, on packaging or the inside of a to-go bag, on a thank-you card, or in an email signature. The best moment to ask is right after a good experience, so make the code easy to reach at that moment.

Printing tips

Print at least 2 cm (about an inch) square with strong contrast, and leave a margin of empty space around the code. A "Scan me" frame with a short prompt like "Leave us a review" reliably increases how many people scan. For cards that get handled a lot, raise error correction to Q or H in Appearance, and always test the final printed size with a real phone before a big print run.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get my Google review link?

Open your Google Business Profile, choose "Ask for reviews", and copy the short link (it looks like https://g.page/r/…/review). If you can't reach the profile, look up your listing's Place ID with a Place ID finder and build the link https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=YOUR_PLACE_ID. Paste it into the URL field to generate the code.

Does the QR code open the review form directly?

Yes, as long as you encode the review link (the g.page/r/ or writereview?placeid= URL) rather than your general listing. Scanning takes the customer straight to the star-rating form for your business, with no extra searching.

Can I change where the code points after printing?

Not for a static code: the link is baked into the image, so a printed static code is permanent. If you want that flexibility, sign in and use a dynamic link instead. It encodes a short open-qr.link redirect you can repoint at any time, even after printing, without reprinting the code.

Do I need a Google Business Profile?

You need a Google Business Profile (a listing on Google) for people to leave reviews, since reviews attach to that listing. You do not need any paid tool to make the QR code: paste your review link here and download it for free.

Where should I put a review QR code?

Wherever a happy customer is already looking: on the receipt, a table tent or counter card, packaging, a thank-you card, or an email signature. The best time to ask is right after a good experience, so keep the code within easy reach at that moment.

Can I add my logo or brand colors?

Yes, colors, gradients, module shapes, and a center logo are all supported. Adding a logo automatically raises error correction to the highest level so the code stays scannable.
