A Flowcode Alternative Without Scan Limits

Flowcode meters your analytics by scan: 500 on the free plan, 6,000 on Pro Plus at $25 a month. Reticle Pro is $12 a month and never caps scans or the reporting on them. Their figures below were read off their own pricing page on August 10, 2026.

Everything a printed code should be able to do

Once a code is on a menu, a box, or a billboard, reprinting is the expensive part. Dynamic links move the decisions into your account instead.

Made in your browser

Static codes are generated entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you create a dynamic link or host a file, and we say exactly what those store.

No scan-count paywall

Free dynamic links have unlimited scans and no expiry. A code you printed keeps working; we do not hold it hostage.

Data you can erase

Free plans keep aggregate counts only. Pro per-scan records are kept about 90 days, and you can export or delete them at any time.

What Flowcode charges

Flowcode's pricing page lists:

Reticle Pro is $12 a month, or $99 a year, for unlimited dynamic codes with no scan cap and no analytics cap. Their figures above were read off their own pricing page on August 10, 2026; pricing changes, so confirm before you buy.

The scan cap is the difference that matters

Most QR products meter the number of codes. Flowcode also meters scans, and specifically the analytics on them: 500 on free, 6,000 on Pro Plus, the first 10,000 on Growth.

That is a limit with an awkward shape, because it binds exactly when things go well. A code that nobody scans never reaches it. A code on packaging that took off, a sign that worked, a campaign that outperformed, is the one that crosses the line, and it crosses it at the moment the numbers are most worth having. You end up with the least data about your best-performing thing.

It is also the limit people are least likely to plan for, because you size a plan by counting codes, which is easy, not by predicting scans, which is guesswork.

Reticle caps neither, on any plan. A free dynamic code has unlimited scans and no expiry, and its aggregate reporting keeps counting forever. Pro adds a per-scan record with city, device, OS and time, exportable to CSV, and there is no scan number at which it stops.

Codes per dollar

The count comparison is straightforward. Pro Plus is $25 a month for up to 50 codes. Reticle Pro is $12 a month for an unlimited number, with no higher tier to graduate into. If you need more than 50, Flowcode's next step is $250 a year starting at 150.

Worth noting that Flowcode counts Flowcodes and landing pages together against the same allowance, so a setup that pairs each code with a page consumes the allowance twice as fast as the number suggests.

Where Reticle is stronger

Beyond the scan caps, three things Flowcode's plans do not put at this price:

Your own domain on the printed code, so it reads go.yourbrand.com/menu rather than someone else's short domain. On a printed piece, that address is part of the design.

A built-in scanner and an on-device test scan, so you can confirm a code reads before it goes to print. No major competitor bundles one.

Everything in one tier. Smart routing, file codes, link pages, passwords, and scheduling are all in the $12 plan rather than distributed up a ladder, and there is no tier above it, so nothing is a future upsell.

Printed codes do not transfer, either way

If you have already printed Flowcodes, you cannot move them to Reticle without reprinting. The printed pattern encodes their short link, so it will always resolve through their servers. That is true of every dynamic QR provider, in both directions, including this one.

Which makes the custom-domain question worth settling before your next print run rather than after it. A code printed on a domain you own is the only version of this you can move later, because the address on the paper is yours rather than your vendor's.

Trying it

The generator on this page needs no account: pick a type, style it, export a PNG or SVG with no watermark. For the dynamic side, the demo workspace is a real Pro account you can look through without signing up, and the free plan's 3 dynamic codes are enough to test on something real. Full plan detail is on pricing.

Frequently asked questions

What does Flowcode cost?

Their pricing page lists a free plan with up to 2 Flowcodes and analytics for up to 500 scans, Pro Plus at $25 a month billed annually with up to 50 Flowcodes and landing pages and analytics for up to 6,000 scans, and Growth at $250 a year starting at 150 Flowcodes with analytics included for the first 10,000 scans. Growth Plus and Enterprise are usage-based or custom. Those figures were checked on their pricing page on August 10, 2026.

What is an analytics scan cap?

It is a limit on how many scans get recorded, rather than on how many codes you own. The code itself keeps redirecting past the cap, but the reporting behind it stops filling in, so a campaign that works better than expected is the one you end up knowing least about. It is worth checking on any provider, because it is a limit most people only discover after the thing they printed succeeded.

Does Reticle cap scans or analytics?

No, on either, on any plan. Free dynamic codes have unlimited scans and no expiry, and the aggregate reporting that comes with them keeps counting indefinitely. Reticle Pro adds a record for each individual scan with city, device, OS and time, exportable to CSV and kept about 90 days, and there is no scan number at which that stops.

Can I move a Flowcode I already printed to Reticle?

Not without reprinting it. A dynamic code encodes the short link of whoever made it, so a printed Flowcode always resolves through Flowcode, and no other provider can take it over. This is true of every dynamic QR provider in both directions, including Reticle. If you want to avoid it next time, print codes on a domain you own: Reticle Pro attaches your own domain, so the address on the printed piece belongs to you.

Can I try Reticle without paying?

Yes, and without an account for the static side. Static codes are unlimited and free with full styling, a logo, SVG export and no watermark. The free plan adds 3 dynamic codes with unlimited scans and no expiry, which is enough to run a real printed test before deciding anything.
